The Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence (CAFE) provides faculty and staff with professional development opportunities, training, and support which will serve to increase student engagement, persistence, and success throughout the Hill College community.
What we do---
A resource center for faculty and staff located in the Welcome Center on HCC, The Cafe offers professional development opportunities and more. Training, support, and assistance are provided in a number of instructional areas, such as:
- Support and Training for New Faculty and Adjuncts
- Blackboard Training and Support
- Online Course Development, Training, and Support
- Instructional Design and Course Management
- Instructional Technology, including Course Capture, Apple TV, iPads, and more
Professional development and training opportunities, internal and external, are shared by the Cafe on a regular basis. Relying primarily on our internal resources, various brown bags and short workshops are offered.
If you have a suggestion for a brown bag, workshop, or have a talent, area of interest and/or expertise and would like to offer one, please let the Cafe know! We would love to have you share your talents and interests, expertise, with everyone.
The Cafe can help faculty coordinate with the Digital Media Workshop (DMW) for photography and video projects, such as "welcome" video clips for online courses, podcasts, how-to photo series, and other multimedia efforts. The DMW is a fully equipped sound room/photo studio staffed by Justin Sanchez (email@example.com). Justin stays busy; please plan as far in advance as possible!
For assistance, suggestions, or comments, please contact Christy Rueter, Coordinator of Professional Development, at 254.659.7772, firstname.lastname@example.org or in person at the Cafe on the Hill College Hillsboro Campus.
