Hill College men’s rodeo team first in regional standings, women’s team is ninth
After two college rodeos, the Hill College men’s rodeo team is in first place in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Southern Region Standings with 1,312.83 points. Following in second place is Panola Junior College with 1,196.33, third is McNeese State University with 626.16 points and Sam Houston State University has 554 points.
Logan Decker of Burleson, and Jarrod Hammons of Stephenville, are third and fourth in the saddle bronc riding. Zachary Hibler of Wheeler is first in the bareback riding, and Ezekiel Mitchell of Baytown is seventh, and Colby Fedor of Grandview is eighth. In the bull riding standings Mitchell is in first place, and Laramie Craigen of Beaumont is seventh. In the tie down roping standings Jon Douch of Huntsville is first and Tanner Fleet of Axtell is second. In the steer wrestling standings Douch is in third place. In the team roping header standings Cyle Denison of Iowa, La., and Tyler Harris of Athens are tied for third, and John Glesmann of New Waverly is 10th. In the team roping heeler standings, Cooper Mathews of Cleburne and Clay Sieber of Troup are tied for third and Tristan Harbour of Gatesville is 10th, and Colton Brittain of Rockwall is 13th.
The women’s team is currently ninth in the regional standings. Megan Wright of Magnolia is fifth in barrel racing and Raelee Self of Sumner is 12th. Brooke Jordan of Covington is 13th in the breakaway roping standings.
The Hill College rodeo teams have three more rodeos this fall. They will compete at the Northeast Texas Community College rodeo in Pittsburg, Texas, Oct. 19-21; McNeese State University Oct. 27-28; and Sam Houston State University Nov. 10-11.
